Let The Boat Rock

I am now entering into a new stage of my life; a fierier, more honest and more dynamic one – and this I find very exciting. I call this stage ‘Let The Boat Rock’. It’s time to speak clearly about what my message is; about what Wake Up To Health really means.

I no longer need to hold on so tightly to the sides of the boat, hoping that it will stay still, hoping that it won’t collide with others. It’s OK for bigger waves to come. And I believe that this is the direction I should be going in now, in allowing the existence of greater waves.

Until recently, I had been happy sailing forwards smoothly and on gentle waves. I thought it was tranquillity that I was after. Life is but a dream eh? But now I realise that I was actually afraid of disturbing the peace, of showing other sides of myself and exploring other voices; my own as well as others, and so I rejected and censored anything that did not fit in with the tranquil picture that I had created. But I don’t feel the need to play the peacekeeper anymore.

A learning for me is this: it isn’t about keeping the peace and making sure everything is nicey-nicey. We are not here to please everyone, and in fact we can’t! It is energy lost in trying to do so. Instead of going out of our way and losing ourselves, we need to speak our truth, staying on our personal path. And what I’ve actually noticed is that the more I let myself speak, the better the response I am getting from others, as well as from myself.

Once we give up the need to edit ourselves and censor other voices, we find our strength and allow ourselves the gift of self-acceptance. When we can stand strong on a rocking boat and be hit by the biggest wave and not fall down – this is when we know we are speaking our truth.

Let us feel our strength, our force and our energy.

In feeling mine, I lay out my message for you, the uncensored and unedited version:

Let us think carefully about what we are doing here
And what our purpose is.
Are we living our true potential?
Are we the happiest and healthiest we can be?

If not, why not?
What is getting in the way?
We need to take full responsibility for our lives,
For our health and for our well-being
In knowing that we can change at any moment.
We can find strength and take good care of ourselves.
We can feel incredible.

We have choice.
Health is a choice.

Treat Yourself!

SDC12467

You are a Cause for Celebration! So Celebrate You!

How do you Treat Yourself? Can you list five ways you’ve treated yourself this week?

Are you someone who sparks fireworks daily, at any moment for no particular occasion but for the sheer magnificence that is you? Or do you see this perhaps as extravagant, a non-necessity, a ridiculous, nonsensical fancy?

‘Why should I treat myself?’ you may ask. ‘Isn’t this something that others do for you or you do possibly once in a while?’

For me, treating myself is an everyday affair, a delight that is supposed to be enjoyed! Certainly not ridiculous and definitely worth it. The question is much rather ‘what good reason is there not to treat myself?’ And to that I can think of no good reason at all.

To rise to any occasion and treat yourself well is of great value. To acknowledge your worth, your intrinsic greatness and your splendor is of essence.

Life is here to be lived, treasured and jazzed up!

And there are many many ways to do so…

I like to make my own dinner parties just for me! I set the table beautifully, cook something delicious, light candles, put a flower on the table, get all dressed up and enjoy my date! I take myself on picnics in the park with an amazing book, blanket, music and I just sit back and sip up the moment. I pamper myself, style my hair, paint my nails and feel pretty. I eat dark chocolate and make quiche. I take long, indulging baths with oils and candles. I go on lovely yoga retreats, have massages, go out to restaurants, have lie-ins, lie on my lounger in the sun and drink cocktails, freshen up my room and….

the list goes on!

Everyday I treat myself in some way, often very simply (I believe wholeheartedly in simple pleasures!) Am I self-absorbed? I don’t think so. I have just learnt to value myself and see all occasions as potential firework displays. I create pleasure, not pain.

By giving pleasure to yourself, you can give the same for others.

Start to treat yourself in new, exciting, pleasurable and fabulous ways right now!!

Make a list! A Treat-storm!

Grab pen to paper and start scribbling down all the treats you’d like to give yourself. Untie your subconscious mind and let the ideas flow! Do you love to travel? See the sky? Eat cheese? Have your hair styled? Enjoy a head massage? Buy a simple rose?

You can be your own best present giver, treater, personal shopper, endorphins releaser, friend, romantic.

You have the ability to put a great big smile on your face, so don’t sit back and wait for the world to turn the edges!

I’d love to hear of all the ways you treat yourself, the appointments you make, the pleasures you live.

Treat Yourself well! Live a happy, enriching life.

Day One

handstand31

I love beginnings. I love mornings, Mondays, the first day of each month, welcoming a new season, a new term and of course the New Year! I love January more than anything! There is such a crispness to it! I see clear space, a white open path and great possibility. I feel so incredibly free and inspired at the start of a New Year and so excited to create and set out on my chosen journey!

It is a perfect time to reevaluate, rechoose and recreate yourself at the start of something. You can step back form your life as it is and decide what you want to keep and what is best to discard. A wonderful opportunity for new healthy ideas to emerge!

Beginnings of time are so exciting for me that it seemed so clear to make them even more of a regularity. Why put such happiness, proactivity and creativity on hold til Monday or the New Year when I could wake up to these feelings everyday?

Such feelings sparked the creation of Day One’s, changing my life brilliantly. A new beginning each new day, everyday! I am currently living a Day One. Yesterday was Day One and tomorrow will be too.

Day One is a chance to start over, a fresh space, a clear white page, the beginning of new time. I can do whatever I choose to do with this new day, paint any picture that I like. I am the creator, the painter!

Day One is a daily January Monday morning! In perceiving every day this way I am creating new vision. I see clearly the immediacy of my actions, my choices and my true purpose. I do not have to wait until the New Year to be truly alive to the beauty and opportunity all around me. I am extending my happiness to fill every moment! ‘Day One has arrived’ I say! ‘Yipee!.’ Back to the drawing board I run with youth and collect my colourful pens to begin my day!

By thinking this way, treating each day as a first, I keep myself in the present. Only now is important and the choices that I make for present time. Yesterday has no significance, only acting as a lesson, a backdrop. Day One has started and I can decide to be whoever I choose. Do, act, say whatever I choose for time has allowed me this space here. Everything else melts away.

Who you are is decided by what you do in the present. If you choose to be healthy right this moment then that is who you are.

We can all make Day One’s and live every new day with radiant new eyes, from a different angle. We can decide how best to make the most of fresh time.

No matter how you have lived, how you have chosen before, the healthy you is asking for attention and care right now. Take yourself gently by the hand, set a clear intention and step into true health. Let us all together Wake Up to the sunshine of Day One.
