Happiness

SDC11475

We are as happy as we choose to be. No more and no less.

We can think of happiness as something that spontaneously arises in our lives from time to time or as an end post we reach after life’s great trials ad tribulations have taken their toll, but it is not until we open to the idea that ‘happiness is a choice that we can all experience at any moment’ that we will source the flow of an abundance of this glowing warming feeling into our lives.

Make happiness a priority and feel good from moment to moment. How often do you enter a situation in full awareness that you are responsible for how you feel? Do you allow circumstance to decide or do you take charge? It is easy to forget, and we all do, that happiness is at our disposal all the time! We get caught up in life’s dramas and events that we mask that which we all need and are truly searching for. It is indeed the one who wears rosy glasses that sees the beauty, the joy, the greatness and the happiness in everything. We can choose to see what we want to. We can choose to be happy. We each have a pair of rosy glasses, we just don’t always put them on.

Happiness is available to us all, in every moment. It is up to us as individuals to claim happiness and to live it and dance it’s song. From the second we get out of bed in the morning we can choose happiness, in all of our actions, words and motivations. Just as on our birthdays or Christmas day we choose to experience rushes of excitement and tingly sensations within which carry us through our day, we can do this day in day out. It just takes an awareness of how we choose to feel.

We often spend too much time wasting opportunities, moments and experiences. We carry blame, judgment, non-forgiveness, criticism and hurt around with us. But where does this get us? Further away from happiness and further bogged down into an unnecessary state of no return. We need to create bridges towards peace and happiness, to freedom. We need to start living to our fullest potential and sing happiness to the treetops! And to do so we must dissolve the things that keep us stuck and distant. Life is too short not to be happy.

Sure, still choose wisely your environment, circle of friends, hobbies, partners and what you fill your life with. I am by no means suggesting that you choose to be happy but neglect your wheel of life. Positively change the things that you can and choose happiness in those you can ‘and’ can’t change. We all have certain things that we can’t change, that just are – whether it be our past, families, genetics or the way others treat us – but it is down to us to nurture acceptance for these. To react in a positive and healing way and to make the most of everything in the best way we can. Why make a situation worse than it is by being unhappy? We can all turn any situation around for the better and call it one of life’s lessons.

What lies in the way between you and continuous happiness? Rid any excuses that you have. Put on your happiness coat right now, go outside and enjoy the light rain as it falls on you. Enjoy all weather! Marvel in it’s uniqueness! And apply this attitude to all things, big and small. Smile more, in fact right now. Give it a go. Be aware of your facial expressions, your body language. Look around you and see the beauty. See the heart in everyone, the brilliance in everything and know this is how things should be! We are experiencing the real uncovered us when we feel fuzzy inside.

So instead of seeking ways to justify unhappiness or complacency with life, find reasons to be happy. When you meet up with your friend today or tomorrow make an intention to only speak words of kindness and positivity. Give moaning, complaining and negativity no room, no purpose. Make a list of all the things that you are grateful for in your life. Sit back and be amazed by how many you can come up with. Make today a happy day! Do the things that help bring about happy thoughts and encourage this warming glow.

How do you currently live happiness? To the maximum or with great interludes? Start to bring happiness to the forefront of your minds, your actions and your motivations. Experience feeling happy in all situations, from brushing your teeth to writing a letter to meeting up with family. Think carefully about how you are feeling and how you could influence happiness inside yourself and all around you.

Our world needs more happy people. Choose happiness now.

Like a Child

We are children. All of us. Only we do not always feel so.

Sometimes in life we drift further and further away from our innocence, our joyfulness. We become influenced by our teachings, surroundings, friends and families, societies’ standards and we start to lose our way, our path and our true happiness.

Perhaps we are lost, forgetful, fearful or clouded in our lives. We may give over to adulthood and grown-up years and think that the two cannot go hand in hand, that we cannot grow up and remain young at the same time. But we are as young as we choose! As happy as we wish to be! I challenge age as being a deciding factor of what we can and cannot be, do, say and live for. At any moment we can choose to see ourselves as children and recognise who we truly are.

Like a Child

Like a Child we can exude happiness and smile wholeheartedly from ear to ear.
Like a Child we are free to use our incredible imaginations and creative tools.
Like a Child we can run, skip and play with delight.
Like a Child we can draw and paint all the beauty that we see.
Like a Child we can sing at the top of our voices and dance the night away.
Like a Child we can practice handstands over and over until the sun sets.
Like a Child we can fall over and then pick ourselves straight back up.
Like a Child we can light up every corner and room with our presence.
Like a Child we can cry tears and then laugh the very next moment.
Like a Child we can have hearts of gold.
Like a Child we can speak wonderful words of kindness with enthusiasm.
Like a Child we can stay up all night chatting with the people we love.
Like a Child we can swim, splash and float on water.
Like a Child we can be nurtured, cared for, loved and nourished.
Like a Child we can heal our wounds so quickly.
Like a Child we can make our dreams come true.
Like a Child we can be present in everything we do.
Like a Child we can be glowingly healthy.
Like a Child.

By loving, caring for and embracing ourselves as children we can truly awaken to our great potential thereby creating wonder all around us. We see how a child enters a space and by simply being present and alive positively changes it’s appearance, feel and nature.

With a soft and gentle approach we can help bring health into our world.

Ask yourself these questions – how would you nurture, care for and love a child? What environment would you create? Gestures would you make? Words would you say? Nourishment would you provide?

Do you give these things to yourself?

We all know so well, almost instinctively, how to look after a child, yet often we neglect ourselves. Our standards seem to fall when it comes to the way we care for ourselves. It’s as though we are not as in need or worthy of health and so we deprive ourselves. We may give away what we really need.

See the child that you are, that is yearning for your touch, your care and set high standards for the way you treat yourself. What words you say, actions you make, things you put in your bodies. You are as worthy as everyone else in the playground of life. However much time you have seen pass by, your heart is still the same, your being, your essence. You owe your inner child, yourself, your dreams to come true.

Aging can be a wondrous thing if we make this choice.

Let us not forget how special we are, how to treat, speak and inspire ourselves. Let’s be done with using age, adulthood and maturity as our excuses for not living our dreams and playing for the love of it. And let us bask in it’s glory instead.

Let us all tap into our hearts and connect with our inner child. Smile and love this child.

We decide what growing older means for us, how we want to be in the moments, days and years to come. Nothing says that we have to stop playing outside, running and skipping excitedly and freely. Nor do we have to let go of our wishes and our ambitions.

Take yourself gently by the hand, just as you would a child, and give yourself a warm and loving hug. Stay here with this feeling. Like a Child you are precious. Like a Child.

Your Special Haven

sdc11044sdc11045sdc11049

Imagine having a special haven. A beautiful special place all to yourself that you can do, be, say whatever you so choose. You can make your mark here and stay here time after time. This space is yours for the taking, the making. You can dream up, design and create beauty all around you. The walls and floors are canvases just yearning for your individual contribution, your essence to hit. The colours, themes, light and spaces are yet to be defined. Nobody else can enter your haven without permission. Nobody has access to your domain, your dwelling, your sanctuary, your retreat. Only you have the key.

Your haven is a place for everything you have, you are. A space to rest, think, lie, sit, stretch, breathe, act, play, write, draw, make, create, see, dream, eat, drink, sleep and just be you. However you are feeling you can come here and take time away from the world, time for yourself. Whether you are feeling restful, thoughtful, fearful, bashful or wonderful your haven is like a blanket ready to warm you up and hold you still whilst you replenish yourself before it’s time to leave.

How your haven looks and feels is down to you. As is the support and nourishment it offers you. As the creator you have full choice in it’s identity. You are responsible for every single area surrounding you. If things in your haven are out of place, messy, cluttered, dirty or uncared for only you can restore it back to it’s ideal state. If in your special place you feel flat, uninspired, unbalanced, trapped or unclear only you can help change these feelings.

We each have a special haven, whether we have fully embraced it or not. Our bedroom is just this! Our very own personal room, our blanket, our nest. What we receive from it depends greatly or what we give to it. If we choose to love it and use it carefully we will surely reap the benefits. If we plant the right seeds our garden will grow!

I love my bedroom! And I love my own personal place. I take great pride in keeping my space clear and tidy so I can feel clarity and space within me. I know well how my environment affects me, what goes on on the outside matters on the inside. I choose colors that resonate with me, whites, blues, yellows and purples to keep me calm, cool and balanced. I choose simplicity for peace of mind. I am a minimalist which helps me focus on things individually and carefully, and in the present. I make sure that I have space for yoga, to breathe, stretch, be on the wall, and lie down. I allow as much light in as possible to aid my vision. These are my personal choices for my haven.

This morning I did something that I do several times a year. I rearranged all of the furniture in my haven. From the moment I woke up I knew it was time for change in my close environment. This Spring has been a time of great change for me. More and more I am feeling aligned with my true self, my core, my values. I am refining my attention to the things that matter to me most. And in this process I am experiencing a great shift within me. This morning I wanted to express my internal emotional change in my physical visual reality. As I cleared away the things in my room which were out of date and unused I felt amazing. I now stand on new ground, new space and I feel totally refreshed!

Are you living in a special haven? How does your bedroom look and feel to you? Do you feel happiness in being here, nestled in a warm, safe blanket? Or is it time for a change, a shift or even a complete rearrangement?

Make your special haven represent you, the true you. Do not compromise on something so important.
