Mind, Body & Soul

Nourish Yourself Well

We are surrounded by beautiful, healthy food. What we need to do is choose wisely what we want to fuel, nourish and heal ourselves with.

Allow yourself to relax, breathe and feel happy when you eat

I recommend trying different healthy foods to see what effect they have on you. Certain foods will leave you feeling great after eating them whilst others will have the opposite effect, so it’s a good idea to pay attention to how you feel during and after eating. Branch out and try new flavours. Go along to your local veggie and see what’s in season.

Feel Cosy in your Body

How do you feel in your body right now?

Not great? OK? Fine?

Well, I want you to feel amazing – and I know that you both can and deserve to.

Yoga can help you feel comfortable and happy in your body; to feel cosy and connected, snug and protected. I think of my yoga practice as ‘coming home’ to these warm feelings. My body benefits by feeling lighter and freer, more strength and openness and more energy and life. From the beginning to the end of a practice, I notice such a difference.

Yoga can help you feel Cosy and Connected, Snug and Protected.

Have a look around your local area and see what yoga classes are on offer. After some time, you may like to start your own personal practice at home. Yoga mats are fairly cheap and can be taken with you anywhere. What time suits you to practice? Morning, afternoon or evening? You could start the day with a series of Sun Salutations to energise you – a lot of people like to create a morning routine to set them up for the day. Or you may like to relax and be restful in the morning and savor your practice for later in the day. Yoga can really help with breaking that tea-time slump.

Feel Clear in your Mind

The power of positive thinking is incredible. Simple positive changes to our thought processes can create immediate and lasting effects on our lives. I am here to help you to create positive thought patterns!

Remember that patterns of thinking can be changed. We have this ability. We do not need to be complacent with feeling sad, ill or low. We can brighten up our lives! Just like a smile across a room can change your day for the better, so can brand new thoughts! Feed your mind, as you should your body, with lots of healthy images, words, associations, peacefulness and beauty. If you find yourself thinking something like ‘I’ve had a terrible day’, then catch yourself in that moment and reassess. What positive things did you do today? How can you make tomorrow a great day?

Think of every new day as Day One

It is so important to be kind and gentle with yourself, practice self-love and say positive daily reminders to yourself. Treat yourself with the care and respect that you deserve! Let go of any judgmental or negative thoughts that do you no good holding onto.

Choose carefully what influences you have around you. Are they helping to contribute a healthy mind? What does your bedroom bring you? Warmth, happiness, peace? Who are you seeing today? What are you talking about? Are your conversations leaving you feeling good? What TV programmes are you watching? Are they filled with positive messages and images? How do your clothes make you feel? These things are all important in contributing to a healthy mind and outlook on life.

Make time for relaxation and peace

Close the door on the world for a while and ask yourself how you’re doing. How are you feeling right now? How does your body feel? Is there anything you’re not happy with? Take some time to relax lying down or in a comfy position and just breathe.

Meditation can be a wonderful way to start the day

Find a relaxing space and fill it with candles, comfy cushions and blankets or whatever you like. Play some peaceful music or enjoy silence. Then sit down, relax, close your eyes and see what thoughts arise and slowly let them float over you bringing your attention to your breathing. Remain here with your breath. Start with a gentle 10 minute meditation and then extend to 20 or 30 minutes if feels right for you.
